Susan Cofer’s colored pencil drawings are small in scale, complex in composition. The paper she draws on is hot press and torn randomly making a shape that is not quite a rectangle. This sets up a compositional difficulty that inspires her. The images, formed by many layers of vertical lines, suggest her close observation of nature and her delight in mystery.
